PLC Design had the pleasure of creating the cover artwork for Anna Merlan’s book Republic of Lies: American Conspiracy Theorists and Their Surprising Rise to Power published through Metropolitan Books. This work of nonfiction is a riveting tour through the landscape and meaning of modern conspiracy theories, exploring the causes and tenacity of this American malady, from Birthers to Pizzagate and beyond.

In what has to be one of the most surreal moments of my design career thus far, the cover art for Republic of Lies was prominently featured on the extremist, far-right conspiracy theory site Infowars. Throughout Merlan’s book Alex Jones is mentioned several times – he responds on the show by calling Ms. Merlan "A murder of the truth. An assassin of reality. A killer of America.”
